To cancel your registration from abroad, a personal appointment is unavoidable. A cancellation from abroad is only possible if you visit us personally.

Tax office:

Please come to the tax office in person at least four weeks before you leave the country and bring the completed checklist with all the necessary documents with you.

The following must be completed before deregistration:

• Fully completed tax returns for all years until departure

• Taxes must be paid in full (or deposit)

• Power of attorney for a representative in Switzerland

Residents' Registration Office:

Deregistration must be reported personally at the counter within two weeks and can be made at the earliest one month before departure.

Please bring the following documents with you:

• Swiss citizens: identity card / passport, written receipt / registration confirmation

• All other nationals: passport, foreigner's identity card

A valid residence permit (C, B, L) expires on the date of departure with the definitive deregistration abroad. Persons with a permanent residence permit C have the option of submitting a request for maintenance to the Zurich Migration Office before deregistering abroad.

Every dog owner is obliged to microchip his dog from the age of three months and to register it in the AMICUS AG database.

Dog owners must register their dogs with the Kloten Residents' Registration Office within 10 days. Before the registration at the town administration, the registration with AMICUS AG has to be performed by a veterinarian. The veterinarian always requires the owner's ID for the initial identification. This can be requested in advance from the Residents' Registration Office. After the registration with the veterinarian, the registration at the Residents' Registration Office must take place within the above-mentioned period. Any mutations concerning the pet owner and the dog, such as changes of name and address, change of owner or death, must also be notified to the Residents' Registration Office within 10 days.

Mutations including deaths of dogs must also be reported directly to AMICUS AG (www.amicus.ch, Tel. 0848 777 100).

Dogs are not to be brought along. However, we kindly ask you to present your dog passport and the confirmation of the required courses. The previously obligatory SKN certificate of competence was abolished as of 01 January 2017. Dog owners of large or bulky dogs (breed type I) are still obliged to complete a basic training (puppy, young dog or education course).

Fees

The town council has set the dog tax at CHF 200. The tax must be paid annually by 31 March in the municipality where the owner lives. The Residents' Registration Office will send you an invoice at the end of January 2018.

Miscellaneous

Every dog owner must have liability insurance with a coverage of at least CHF 1 million. Anyone who owns or acquires a dog that belongs to breed type I and was born after 31.12.2010 must prove within the prescribed period that they have completed recognised practical dog training. For Swiss citizens, we need the following documents:

• Tenancy agreement or residence permit or purchase contract

• Birth certificate for infants

• Marriage certificate or family booklet for married couples

• Proof of custody of minor children with unmarried parents

Registration fee per adult CHF 20.00

The registration can be made personally at the counter or online via eUmzugZH.

For all other citizens, we need the following documents:

• Passport

• Foreigner's identity card or confirmation of residence permit from the Migration Office or employment contract

• Proof of health insurance according to KVG (for all family members moving in)

• Tenancy agreement or residence permit or purchase contract

• Birth certificate for minor children (with German or English translation)

• Marriage certificate or family booklet for married couples (with German or English translation)

• Proof of custody of minor children with unmarried parents

Registration fee per adult CHF 20.00, plus fees for foreigners.

Persons who belong to an EU/EFTA state can report the move from another Swiss municipality either personally at the counter or online via eUmzugZH.

The following fees will be charged additionally:

Move within the canton:

Adults: CHF 25.00 / Children: CHF 12.50

Move from outside the canton:

Adults: CHF 50.00 / Children: CHF 30.00

A move from abroad can only be registered personally at the counter.

Third-country nationals can report a move within the canton either in person at the counter or online via eUmzugZH. For registration from another canton or from abroad, a personal appointment is unavoidable.

The following fees for foreigners will be charged additionally:

Adults: CHF 25.00 / Children: CHF 25.00

Move from outside the canton:

Adults: CHF 142.00 / Children: CHF 87.00
